Program Monitoring

Program Monitoring

Program management is all about managing a group of projects in a coordinated way to deliver benefits that would not be possible if the projects were independently managed. P3’s add-on program module provides essential program management features such as ranking  projects according to benefits realization and resource optimization to maximize program benefits and return on investment. The Periodic tracking (for example, daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, annually) of any activity’s progress by systematically gathering and analyzing data and information is called Monitoring. It provides regular feedback and early indications of progress (or lack of progress). Its purpose is to permit the management and stakeholders to make informed decisions regarding the effectiveness of programs and the efficient use of resources.

In P3® program monitoring provides a holistic view of the program and status of each component of the program as well. The consolidated view of the program helps program managers view the program’s current status at any point in time. Program managers can also view status of each of the program component, projects individually to see the progress of individual projects within a program.

Program Roadmap

A program roadmap is a graphical, high-level overview of the program’s goals and deliverables presented on a timeline. This makes the program roadmap a useful tool for managing program components as well as for communicating plans and coordinating resources with other teams.
A roadmap provides a bird’s eye view of the program without getting into tiny details. This makes it an important tool for program managers tasked with keeping the stakeholders informed of a project’s scope and progress.

A project roadmap should contain the following:

• A timeline indicating the schedule of completion of program components
• Important milestones on the program timeline
• Major deliverables on the timeline
• Dependencies of program components on other program components

P3 ® Program interactive roadmap allows program managers to interactively adjust program components on the program timeline. This feature helps program managers to set dependencies of components over each other in addition to showing milestones.

Program Governance

Program Governance in P3® allows program managers to see the cumulative as well as indiviual project completion of each project in the program. The cumulative program and individual project completion progress are shown as bars against the final planned completion. Program managers can see at a glance the slow-paced projects within a program and can focus on them. A tool tip also shows the cumulative percent completion of program.
The most important tool in the Program Governance is the Program Completion indicator that shows the percentage of completion of each project and the completion of on the program itself. This feature allows individual projects progress to be viewed within a program to be viewed at a glance.
The second important tool in the Program Governance is the Cost indicator that shows the cost incurred on each project and also the cost incurred cumulatively on the program. This feature allows individual costs of each project within a program to be viewed at a glance.
The fourth important tool in the Program Governance is duration indicator that shows the duration of each project and the total duration of the program. This feature allows individual program manager to view days spent on each project within a program to be viewed at a glance.
The third important tool in the Program Governance is the Resource indicator that shows the resources employed on each project and also the resources employed cumulatively on the program. This feature allows individual project resources to be viewed within a program at a glance.
The fifth important tool in the Program Governance is the Contractor Equipment Utilization indicator that shows the utilization of contractor equipment on each project and also the utilization of contractor equipment cumulatively on the program. This feature allows utilization of heavy machinery for each project within a program to be viewed at a glance.
their duration becomes longer, and functioning more complex, it is imperative to track all risks at a central location so that project managers can decide how to handle them without missing anyone of them.
